robot worker assignment

This was last weeks assignment with the theme of robot worker. I did a cleaning robot. This is my usual process after I get the sketch where I want it to be. I trace over it in ink, then scan it in to do a digital painting for a value study trying out different lighting and shadows, then I print it out for reference when I take the inked version from before and use my markers and white paint to finish it. I really liked how it turned out, though the scan of the finished version doesn't look as good as the real thing. I learned why and how to do better scans since then, and when I get my portfolio back, I'll rescan a better image of it.
It's been a little over a week since I turned in my portfolio and have at least another week or two to find out if I got in the animation program or not.

Toy Redo

This is my most recent assignment for my animation drawing class. We had to redo our toy assignment to a new theme of viking raiders. We had to have knowledge based drawings, creative drawings, and then redo the toy with similar shapes and design principles. I took the raccoon skin cap idea from my Daniel Boone character and turned it into a raccoon viking. The shapes between the two characters are similar. If you take the body of Daniel Boone and turn it upside down, you get the basic shape I used to make the raccoon's body. I'm pleased with how it turned out, and can say I know a whole lot more about vikings now that I researched them and drew over 17 pages of sketches that I combined into these two scans.

Recent assignments

These are some recent assignment s I have done for my drawing class. The frog was an assignment for simple shapes and lines, then we had to design whats called vinyl toys based on historic figures, so I drew some ideas and decided to go with the Daniel Boone character and developed him further, then we had to design ourselves at a young age with our imaginary friend and use markers to put gray tone in it, and I also posted another page for the book I have been working on.

Streetlight 3.0

I just got the email and this version is approved! Yay! I really thought I did a good job on it and my team leader agreed. This is another version of the streetlight. I was asked to make the wood on the post a combination of my previous two versions, and have the connecting metal brackets be made of a different material and look more worn. So, I rusted the connectors, combined the previous images of the wood texture I used, and made a higher resolution of the wood texture through an unsharpen filter in photoshop, and it turned out really well I think.

Tooth Fairy sketches

These are the first sketches for most of the characters in the Tooth Fairy story. There's a few mom concepts, different fairies, the castle in the sky, different versions of the mean gnome, and the giant bird.
