Streetlight 2.0

This is an updated version of my streetlight. We discussed in our film meeting how the last version looked all the same color and value and noticed a few problems with the surface textures being uneven and stretched for a few parts. So, I fixed the stretch problems with the lamp shade, and the metal connectors that attach the metal pole to the wood post, and matched the color of the wood post more to the values that are part of the gas station, and fixed how awful yellow the light bulb was. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and will find out if everyone agrees on Monday.

Brenden movies

Brenden

Here are some more recent photos of Brenden taken this week and tonight. He was in a playful mood, so I took some videos of him as well that I will also post.

Streetlight

These are the first run of the shaders I did in photoshop for the 3D streetlight. I applied it to the model tonight so the images can be posted for the film meeting tomorrow for some critique. I already know I need to do a few tweaks here and there like the light bulb being more dirty, and some more playing around with a few of the metal surfaces, but overall I'm pretty happy with how things turned out for the first render of things. Hopefully I won't have to do 5 more versions like I did with the bookshelf, but even if I do, I'll continue learning in the process.

Murder at the Zoo

Here's Brenden sitting himself up and reading a book to me on his favorite playtime blanket. This was last weeks assignment for my drawing class. We were given the subject of murder mystery at the zoo. I thought about a kid that was teasing a goat and was walking backwards not looking where he was going until the goat head butted him into a lions den. I spent way more time on the original drawings than I did on the shading with photoshop, so it's not as good as it could be. I really had fun drawing the goat and kid falling, but lacked time to do better on the lions. I'll do better on my next assignment.

Christmas photos

Here are the photos we took during our Christmas vacation. Brenden seems to really enjoy us taking his photo and even did some interesting poses for us as well.

Book Illustration job

This is an illustration I did to get the job as an illustrator for a series of children books by an author who's a member of Julie's parent's ward. The story is called the Tooth fairy burglar, and this scene is the main character boy who is daydreaming in his bedroom about how barren his piggy bank is and comparing it to a barren desert. I put the focus on the boy and his piggy bank by setting the scene at night so everything is dark except for him being lit by the moonlight from his bedroom window. I was excited to receive the call that he loved my work and that I would be his illustrator for all his future books. If we make alot of money that would be great, but if not, I'm having fun drawing ayway.
